The Tiki Community is proud to announce the immediate availability of Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware 6.1. This update includes over 250 code changes by nearly 20 Tiki Community members. Although these updates are primarily fixes and improvements to existing features, there are several new items that Tiki administrators will be happy to see, including:

* Continued upgrades for WYSIWYG editing
* Default toolbars include a new button to easily select a file (after file upload, if needed), and it's name and link are added to the textarea of that wiki page, forum, blog, etc.
* A new admin panel for Clipperz online password management
* Improvements to CSS inclusion for newsletters
* Many translation updates (from Tiki's interactive translation feature)
* New and improved plugins for third-party media (such as Vimeo, Blip.tv, and YouTube) and generic buttons.
* Updated plugin interface
* New module: Tracker help
* Export or show a wiki page in text-only format (useful to be used with Pretty Trackers)
* Static text fields in Trackers can be sent with wiki-parsed text in notification emails.
* New language.js file added to language folders to assist in translation of text and UI elements used in JavaScript functions.

The new and exciting version of XOOPS, the Top 5 Finalist of 2010 Packt Open Source CMS competition, has been released and is available for download.

XOOPS 2.5.0 is f is a major redesign of the System Module which has been AJAX-ed with jQuery. Some of the new features are truly amazing, like the visual placement of blocks, and we're sure that the users will love them

The Tiki Community is proud to announce the release of Tiki 6. This version of Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware represents hundreds of hours of work by dozens of members of the Tiki Community. Nearly 50 developers contributed more than 1,500 code changes for this release.

In addition to countless tweaks and updates, Tiki 6 includes several new, key features:

* Extensive re-work and improvements to the Tiki blog, comments, spreadsheets and tracker features
* Batch functions (via cron jobs)
* Introduction of re-Captcha
* Expanded support of ccLite community currencies
* Integration with social networks such as Facebook
* Improved WYSIWYG support
* and much, MUCH more.

Tiki 6 has been designated as the Long Term Support (LTS) version, replacing Tiki 3 LTS. Tiki 3 will reach end of life when Tiki 7.1 will be released (planned for April 2011). See the Project Roadmap for details.

Espírito Livre
Marc Laporte, a long-time Tiki Admin and board member of the Tiki Software Community Association, recently spoke with Espírito Livre about Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware. Espírito Livre brings together free software enthusiasts and aims to grow the free software movement.

In the interview, Laporte discusses the history and future of Tiki, including what makes Tiki different, who should (and shouldn't) use Tiki, as well as Tiki's relationship with the open source community.

DoNanza
DoNanza released today the Q3 Market Trends Report, analyzing the rivalry among CMS/Blogging platforms; overall, DoNanza shows work–from-home market is healthy and growing. According to the report, CMS professional project demand is showing extraordinary growth, most notably WordPress, Joomla and Drupal. In Q3 2010, Wordpress projects in the DoNanza Universe grew by 61%, with Joomla growing at 38% and Drupal at 26%.

In term of demand, WordPress is a clear winner, cementing its hold on the market with more than 6 times the amount of projects in comparison to Drupal. Joomla finds its position exactly in the middle in terms of number of projects. While the top CMS projects budgets goes to Drupal.

"Growth in freelance projects for certain technologies can tell us where the market is trending even before the finished projects impact market share" said Liran Kotzer, CEO of DoNanza.

More interesting market information could be noticed for different project types, since Wordpress is very easy to setup, most people start out with WordPress on their own then request customization or other dev work. Indeed, only 18% of the total WordPress projects are site building, compared to 31% of Drupal projects.

Moving closer to a final release, the Tiki Community is proud to announce the immediate availability of Tiki 6.0 beta 2. You can download the beta directly from SourceForge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/tikiwiki/files/Tiki%206.x%20-Rigel-/ .

Since the release of Tiki 6 Beta 1, there have been more than 200 code changes, bug fixes, and improvements. Tiki administrators are reminded that this is a beta version and is not intended to be used in a production environment.

See http://doc.tiki.org/Tiki6 for information on major enhancements and changes in this release. Tiki 6 is scheduled for release at the end of October.
